Professor Jarrod Wong Nominated to ASIL Executive Council and Speaks at IBA Conference

Professor Jarrod Wong has been nominated to serve on the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) for a three-year term beginning at the 2018 ASIL Annual Meeting.

Founded in 1906, ASIL was chartered by Congress in 1950, holds Special Consultative Status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is a constituent society of the American Council of Learned Societies. Comprising nearly 4,000 members from over 100 nations, ASIL is governed by its Executive Council, which consists of 10 officers, 24 Council Members and 24 Counsellors.  Prof. Wong also serves as Co-Chair of ASIL's International Economic Law Interest Group. 

Prof. Wong also gave a talk this week at the International Bar Association (IBA) conference on "Investing in Asia" in New York on Dec. 7, 2017.  His discussion will focus on recent developments in investment arbitration in the Asia Pacific including the Investment Court mechanism in the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and China's Belt and Road initiative.  Separately and later in April 2018, Prof. Wong will moderate a session on "International Arbitration in the Asia-Pacific: Prospects and challenges of a dynamic and growing field" at the 2018 ASIL Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
