On Friday, April 25th, for the final event of the International Jurist Series for this year, the Global Center for Business & Development hosted a luncheon with Vincent Nmehielle, legal counsel to the African Union.

A barrister and solicitor originally from Nigeria, Professor Nmehielle is currently on leave from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he is a Professor of Law and Head of the Wits Programme on Law, Justice & Development in Africa.

On a previous leave from 2005-2008, Professor Nmehielle served as the Principal Defender at the Special Court for Sierra Leone. The luncheon discussion focused on current legal, political, and development issues in Africa.

Professors Linda Carter, John Sims, Frank Gevurtz, Brian Landsberg, and Julie Davies joined the discussion along with 2L student Tia Kemokai, the editor-in-chief of the Global Business & Development Law Journal (the "Globe").
