Moylan is President of Associated Legal Writing Directors Association
August 29, 2014
Moylan, the director of McGeorge's Global Lawyering Skills (GLS) program, has served as president-elect since August 2013.
"I am excited to be joining the leadership of ALWD at a time when skills professors have an important role to play in the changes being made to law school curriculum across the country," Moylan said.
Moylan co-authored a new textbook, Global Lawyering Skills, with professor of lawyering skills Stephanie Thompson, and contributing authors from the McGeorge GLS faculty including Hether Macfarlane, Ed Telfeyan, Adrienne Brungess, Gretchen Franz, Jeff Proske, and Maureen Moran. Former GLS faculty members Kathleen Friedrich, Jennifer Gibson, and Maureen Watkins also contributed chapters. The skills book was published by West on May 29, 2013. The textbook is intended for use in legal research and writing classes, although it includes chapters outside the traditional legal research and writing curriculum including chapters on client interviewing, client counseling, international and transnational research, alternative dispute resolution, and includes cross-cultural considerations in most of the chapters.
ALWD is a non-profit professional association of directors of legal reasoning, research, writing, analysis, and advocacy programs from law schools throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. ALWD has more than 200 members representing more than 150 law schools. McGeorge hosted the organization's 2011 conference.
