Moylan Wins Election to ALWD Board
April 18, 2012
Professor Mary-Beth Moylan was elected to the Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD) Board of Directors this spring. The director of Pacific McGeorge's Global Lawyering Skills (GLS) program, she will serve a three-year term beginning this summer.
ALWD is a non-profit professional association of directors of legal reasoning, research, writing, analysis, and advocacy programs from law schools throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. The association is governed by officers and a nine-member board of directors who serve staggered terms.
"It's worth noting that there was a crowded ballot of around 16 candidates [for three spots]," Associate Dean Julie Davies said. "This is a wonderful step in helping to promote the distinctiveness and quality of our writing program on a national stage."
Pacific McGeorge's GLS program was ranked No. 13 in the country earlier this spring by U.S. News & World Report in the magazine's Legal Writing specialty category among all ABA-accredited law schools. The biennial ALWD Conference was held in June 2011 at Pacific McGeorge, and the event, "Leadership for the Second Wave," drew high praise from attendees for its structure, content and effectiveness.
