Duane Miller, ’73, won a major environmental legal victory in mid-June.
A San Francisco jury ordered three chemical manufacturers to pay the city of Modesto $178 million (including $175 million in punitive damages) for contaminating its water with suspected carcinogens. The case involved perchloroethylene, the main solvent used by dry cleaners. An appeal is planned.
