Mediation Training Program Hits The Mark

Eighteen lawyers and administrative law judges completed Pacific McGeorge's intensive, six-day mediation training this month.

Professors Michael Colatrella and Gregory Weber taught the two-weekend workshop, which was approved for 40 hours of MCLE credit by the State Bar of California. The course followed a smaller "Negotiation for Lawyers" program in May that kicked off the law school's inaugural executive training program.

"It was excellent," said Sacramento attorney Bret Rossi, '84. "I felt informed, educated and entertained. I was very impressed by the knowledge and techniques used by the teachers - it was well-worth the time and money invested."

Participating attorneys were taught a step-by-step approach to assist parties in managing and resolving their differences in legal and organizational settings. The course meets the training requirements to be a civil mediator in court-connected matters in most California counties.

"I have attended CLE courses over a period of 40 years and this course and its predecessor course in negotiation are among the best I have ever attended - and that includes a summer session at Harvard Law School," said Davis attorney Arthur Silen.

In the coming months, Pacific McGeorge hopes to announce the dates of future executive training programs.
