Local High and Middle School Students Discover Law at McGeorge
February 17, 2016
McGeorge School of Law hosted more than 275 Sacramento-area junior high and high school students on campus at the annual “Discover Law Day” on Feb. 12, 2016.
The free program primarily focused on historically underrepresented groups and first-generation college aspirants. The Office of Admissions and Diversity Initiatives and the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) co-sponsored the program, which featured a mock class with Associate Dean Michael Colatrella, a campus tour and scavenger hunt led by McGeorge students, and an alumni-student panel with Serena Kallas, ’14, Bahar Madani, ’17, and Jose Parra, ’17.
Students from Florin High (Domestic and International Law Academy), C.K. McClatchy High (Law and Public Policy Academy) Luther Burbank High (Law and Social Justice Academy), Westlake Charter School and Valley High School and Heron middle schools attended the full day of law school immersion activities.
McGeorge will host a second “Discover Law Day” on Friday, March 18, 2016.
