Pacific McGeorge played host to the 2011 Association of Legal Writing Directors Conference from June 23 to 25, receiving rave reviews from the 130 attendees who came from law schools all over the United States and Canada.

California Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye delivered the keynote speech at "Leadership for the Second Wave," which featured a series of workshops, seminars and breakout sessions on building and improving successful legal writing programs.

"It was a highly successful conference," said Mary Algero, the ALWD president. Warren E. Mouledoux Distinguished Professor of Law, Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. "The hospitality afforded us by the Pacific McGeorge folks was fantastic."

"It was a remarkable event," Dean Elizabeth Rindskopf Parker said. "The multi-faceted program went off like clockwork, the chamber of commerce weather was perfect, and our campus looked beautiful. Most importantly, all attendees could sense and see the emphasis Pacific McGeorge places on legal writing, and the importance of that component in legal education."

Professor Mary-Beth Moylan, the director of Pacific McGeorge's Global Lawyering Skills program, Professor Stephanie Thompson, GLS co-director, received deserved plaudits for all their work in organizing the conference. In turn, the organizers credited outstanding staff work and support from all levels.

Here are some of the anonymous comments received from attendees that the organizers wish to share with GLS faculty members and the numerous staffers who were instrumental in our success:

"This was absolutely the best conference that I've ever been to! The small size of the conference, together with the wonderfully accommodating site team was wonderful! Thank you."

"Great conference — very well-organized, good venue, friendly, relaxed, but also very useful"

"Beautifully organized -- warm, relaxed, and efficient."

"Loved it; ranks with the best ever."

"Beautiful campus, perfect hosts!"
