Professor Ruth Jones presented a workshop on “Techniques to Improve the Analytical Skills of Students in Large Required Classes,” in late June at the Gonzaga Institute for Law Teaching and Learning Summer 2009 Conference in Spokane, Washington.

It was Jones’ second appearance at the semi-annual event, which is co-sponsored by the Washburn University and Gonzaga University law schools. Professors Marjorie Florestal and Sabine Schlemmer-Schulte and adjunct professor Courtney Linn also attended this year’s two-day conference that explored techniques for teaching skills and professionalism across the law school curriculum.

Florestal and Jones also took part in the Lutie A. Lytle Black Women Faculty Writing Workshop at the Seattle University School of Law. Florestal presented a work-in-progress paper on “Risk & Reward: The Gendered Implications of Mutual Mistake Doctrine in Divorce Settlement Contracts.” Jones presented a work in progress, “Defining Title VII’s ‘Because of Sex’ in the Context of Sexual Abuse in Prison,” and served as a commentator for another session.
