Help Improve Oak Park

The Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA) has created a fund designated for projects to improve the quality of life in Oak Park and is soliciting suggestions for projects.

While the amount of money ($400,000) is small compared to the huge amount of need, SHRA is using this process as a means of identifying needs. The federally-funded Weed and Seed Program, in which Pacific McGeorge is actively involved, will decide what projects are funded. If priority projects cannot all be accomplished from this fund, they will seek alternative sources of funding (city departments, federal grants, other nonprofit agencies, etc.) that might be available to meet needs.

For the purposes of this new fund, SHRA is looking for relatively small projects that won’t involve any ongoing maintenance or manpower. Suggestions include improved crosswalk designations and signage, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, traffic calming, etc. In addition, they’re also soliciting input on overall needs, even if they would not be eligible for funding out of this fund. You can help by either:

  • Attending the Oak Park Redevelopment Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting on September 12 at 6:30 PM at the Oak Park Community Center ( 3425 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.).
