Cody Drabble won the Top Oral Advocate Award on April 2, 2009, at the Appellate & International Advocacy Final Four competition.

Drabble shared the Diana P. Scott Prize for excellence in appellate advocacy with his fellow participants, Jessalee Samar, Luke Hendrix and Cathleen Penney.

Arizona Supreme Court Vice Chief Justice Rebecca White Berch, who was named the new chief justice of that state’s high court a week ago, presided over the competition at the Robert T. Matsui U.S. Courthouse in Sacramento. She was joined on a three-judge panel by Judge Morrison C. England, Jr., ’83, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California, and Justice Arthur G. Scotland, ’74, California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District.

Louinda Lacey, Caitlin Howard, Charlsie Swift-Taylor and Jessica Warne were honored with Best Brief Awards during the competition.

The McGeorge Final Four is the culmination of the law school’s year-long Appellate & International Advocacy Program. Professors Mary-Beth Moylan, Athena Roussos and Eric McElwain organized the event.
