Congressman Bera to Address Pacific McGeorge Graduates

Congressman Ami Bera of the U.S. House of Representatives will be the commencement speaker at the graduation ceremony of the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Sacramento's Memorial Auditorium.
Bera represents California's 7th Congressional District, which is located east of Sacramento. A medical doctor, he serves on the House Committee on Science Space and Technology and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. During Bera's twenty-year medical career, he worked to improve the availability, quality, and affordability of healthcare. Bera helped to connect University of California, Davis medical students with Pacific McGeorge community legal clinic students five years ago through a joint interdisciplinary class addressing the interrelated health and legal needs of a growing senior populace.
Pacific McGeorge will award 319 Juris Doctorate degrees and 20 LL.M. degrees to culminate its 89th academic year. Dean Francis J. Mootz III will preside over the ceremony, and University President Dr. Pamela A. Eibeck will join him in the platform party.
Amy O'Neill (Day Division) and William Whaley (Evening Division) will be honored with Outstanding Graduate Awards for academic achievement. O'Neill is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Whaley is a graduate of UC Davis. Student speakers for the commencement will be Hans Van Horn (Day Division), Andrea Moon (Evening Division), and John Davidson (LL.M. Division).
