Summary Bio
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev appointed Mikayil Jabbarov, ’98 LL.M., as the country’s new Minister of Education on April 19, 2013.
A member of the State Bar of New York, Jabbarov began his career in international banking in 1995. After obtaining his LL.M. in Transnational Business Practice at McGeorge, he worked for three years in the private sector. In 2002-2003, Jabbarov was the senior adviser to Azerbaijan’s Minister for Economic Development before assuming the presidency of the former Soviet Union republic’s Export and Investment Promotion Foundation.
His other appointments include service as Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan and head of the Eurasian nation’s State Historical and Architectural Reserve Icheri Shahar.
Jabbarov graduated from the Faculty of Law at Baku State before coming to Pacific McGeorge. He also holds a Master of Economics from the Azerbaijan State Economic University.
