Summary Bio

Lisa V. Ryan is a partner in the Sacramento office of Cook Brown LLP. Her practice includes representing management in the litigation of wage and hour matters, employment discrimination, sexual harassment, public works/prevailing wage, and labor law issues. Ms. Ryan also provides advice to clients on a variety of personnel matters, including drug testing, state and federal family leave, workers’ compensation discrimination, and the WARN Act. She has argued appellate matters before the Third District Court of Appeal and has experience in handling administrative appeals.

Before joining the firm, Ms. Ryan worked for the California State Legislature as the policy consultant on labor and employment issues for the Senate Republicans, as well as serving as communications director for State Senator Jim Brulte. Prior to her years in the Legislature, she was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson to serve in the Trade and Commerce Agency as a speechwriter and press secretary.
