Legal Studies Center Great law schools deserve equally great legal resources. For Pacific McGeorge, a new Legal Studies Center which will house the Gordon D. Schaber Law Library is greatly needed to keep pace with our prominent programs, distinguished faculty, outstanding students, and internationally-recognized achievements. The two-story, $10 million Legal Studies Center is the centerpiece of Pacific McGeorge's strategic plan and will house the library and study areas, as well as contain space for symposia, events, and legal training. This new library will not only revitalize legal research and study for our students, but will also transform the way our campus is perceived and experienced regionally, nationally and globally. |

Scholarships Endowing a scholarship establishes your legacy as a leader in the Pacific McGeorge community. Scholarships can be based on a current, or planned gift in the future. Endowments begin at $25,000. To sponsor a student for a full year through a scholarship requires an endowment of $850,000. Your gift as a scholarship helps Pacific McGeorge to attract talented students who otherwise might not have an opportunity to fulfill their potential. |

Highlights on Special Gifts and Programs Centers for Distinction The Sierra Health Foundation made a 10-year grant to the law school to foster discussion on ethical issues in today's business and government. Professor Paul Paton coordinated this year's symposium, held March 6th, that focused on issues of ethics in government. Ethics in government has taken on heightened importance as local, state and federal governments address scandal, allegations of impropriety, and concerns about conflicts of interest in both political office and in the public service. Drawing on the unique challenges and opportunities presented by an election year and a new administration, this Symposium brought together academic experts, practitioners, and thoughtful observers with experience in and out of government for a timely reflection on the problems, analysis of the cures and an open roundtable on the way forward. Lobbying and ethics were the special focus of a major session where former Assembly Speaker Willie Brown spoke and answered questions for a large luncheon group in the California Reading Room. Sierra Health Foundation's sponsorship of this program is greatly appreciated. Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Each March, the best mock trial teams from law schools throughout the nation travel to Pacific McGeorge for the Pacific McGeorge Ethics Mock Trial Competition. This trial competition is the only one of its kind, adding an ethical component to its criteria for judging case presentations. The ability of Pacific McGeorge to host this prestigious competition is made possible through the generosity of the law firm of Dreyer Babich Buccola Callaham and Wood, LLP. Pacific McGeorge School of Law Education Pipeline Initiative The vision of the Pacific McGeorge Education Pipeline Initiative (EPI) is to inspire children of diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds in the Sacramento region to pursue higher education. Through law-themed curricula and activities; exposure to legal professionals; intensive academic, cultural, and mentoring support; the program provides students with the tools to achieve their goal of post-secondary education. Pacific McGeorge is seeking support to expand the EPI's impact by establishing a tutorial-intensive Academic Enrichment Program, high school-to-college summer bridge workshops; college-to-law school boot camp; e-mentoring; distance learning opportunities; and additional parental support seminars.
