Salzburg is located at the geographic and historic crossroads of Central Europe. Classes are held in the Law Faculty building of the University of Salzburg, located in a renovated 16th Century palace in the heart of Salzburg's historic Old Town.
Scholars from throughout Europe have been traditionally attracted to the beautiful setting. In addition to law students and graduates from the United States, the program seeks to enroll students from other countries. In 2013, we expect about 20 non-U.S. students from countries including Austria, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Turkey, France and Spain.
In 2012, 50 students participated in the Salzburg Program. Of those students, 20 came from Pacific McGeorge School of Law, two came from other ABA-approved law schools, and 28 were foreign students. In 2013, it is expected that approximately 20 non-U.S. students will enroll in the program.
Student Testimonials
What former students have to say about the Salzburg Summer Program:
"I am a 2L at an East Coast law school who recently returned from your Salzburg summer program. I just wanted to thank you for making this excellent program available to me and other non-McGeorge students."
"I had an outstanding academic experience learning from Justice Kennedy and Professor Douglas-Scott, as well as an amazing time living in Salzburg. The most memorable aspect of this program, however, was living and studying with the McGeorge students. I arrived in Salzburg without knowing a single person in the program, and though the McGeorge students arrived in established groups of friends and acquaintances, they could not have been more open and friendly. I made some terrific friends from McGeorge, which absolutely made my summer. It is a great credit to you, your administration, and your faculty that your school attracts such wonderful people. You must also be doing an excellent job of establishing a community as well as running an academic institution."
"Thank you again for offering the Salzburg program, which I hope you will continue for many years. I will certainly encourage students in the first year class at [my law school] to spend their next summer in Salzburg, and from now on, if anyone asks if I know of a good place to attend law school on the West Coast, McGeorge will be the first school that comes to mind."
