2011 ALWD Conference

Leadership for the Second Wave

Pacific McGeorge was pleased to host the 2011 Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD) conference — "Leadership for the Second Wave" — in Sacramento.

The conference was an opportunity for those who lead legal writing, research, and skills programs to come together to share new ideas and stimulate discussion about their roles in their law schools, the legal profession, and the larger community. Many members of the legal writing and skills community have taken on leadership roles at several law schools over the years, in the administration of their law schools, and in their local legal community. This conference was focused on how to build a successful program, where to go once a successful program has been built, and how to engage in leadership at all levels of the legal institution.

Our keynote speaker for the conference was the Honorable Tani Cantil-Sakauye, the recently appointed and elected Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court. The conference also featured a dynamic combination of plenary sessions, breakout sessions, concurrent sessions, and roundtables.
