International Internship Fund & Opportunities

Purpose of the Program

The International Internship Fund’s purpose is to support and encourage opportunities for Pacific McGeorge students and recent alumni to undertake international internships abroad or to volunteer with non-governmental organizations engaged in international or transnational activities. The Fund provides tuition discounts for students who intern for Pacific McGeorge credit and modest stipends for students and recent graduates who intern as volunteers.

Recipients will be chosen on a competitive basis by a selection committee based on the criteria and requirements described below. Recipients will be asked to participate in the Intercultural Legal Competence Seminar, which includes journal entries and a four-hour workshop. The maximum amount awarded to a student is $2,500, and the maximum for a recent graduate is $5,000. Funds are limited and may be exhausted, so early applications are encouraged.

Internship Fund Criteria

The internship must be law related in:

• An international legal governmental organization
• An international or regional tribunal
• A prominent non-governmental organization in a foreign country
• A U.S.-based organization that engages in transnational or international work
• Other organizations or activities upon approval by selection committee Application Requirements:

An applicant must be:

• J.D. student who is interning for credit
• J.D. or LL.M. student who is interning on a volunteer basis
• A recent J.D. or LL.M. graduate who is interning on a volunteer basis

Submit the Following

• Application form — online form | pdf form
• Description of the placement, including the name and location of organization.
• The purpose or mission of the organization
• The nature of the work engaged in by interns, specifying law-related duties
• A one page statement of interest on why you want to do the internship¹
• A transcript of work at Pacific McGeorge or other law schools
• A resume

¹ Personal statements may be shared with other organizations in order to secure future funding.
