Pacific McGeorge, in collaboration with American University Washington College of Law, China University of Political Science and Law, South China University of Technology, Zhejiang Gongshang University and Committee of Chinese Clinical Legal Educators, held a five day training workshop in Wuhan, China from December 3 - 7, 2009.
The trainers were made up of four U.S. professors, and four Chinese Professors from our Phase one schools.
The trainees consisted of 30 Chinese professors from five different universities, which included:
Wuhan University
Central China University of Science and Technology
North University of Nationalities
Southwest University of Science and Technology and
Southwestern University of Finance and Economics
In addition, a few guests from South Central University of Finance and Political Science and Law, International Bridges to Justice, and Dean Lawrence Hellman from the Law School of Oklahoma City University, also attended portions of the training.
For the first time, both the Advocacy and Clinical education trainings were combined together. Trainees were able to expereince both large group as well as small group discussions. One of the trainees expressed that this training provided them with "A deeper understanding of the teaching methods and contents of clinical courses, such as case theory and cross-examination skills."
An intensive training workshop will follow in the Summer of 2010, where many of these same trainees will continue to learn skills and methods to enhance experiential legal education in thier law schools.
