Dane Willis

Class of 2019
Law Clerk, Kennaday Leavitt Owensby PC

Hometown: Sacramento, CA
Undergraduate: CSU Sacramento
Major: Business Administration

Dane Willis knew that he wanted to practice law after he interned for the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office. He worked with domestic violence and homicide attorneys and the opportunity to see the legal process unfold through their high-profile cases made him fall head over heels with the prospect of a career as a lawyer.

During his internship, Dane's father passed away. The experience motivated him to strive to be the kind of worker his dad was. "My dad worked hard for his auto-glass business and for his family. Losing him humbled me, but imbued me the drive to chase after my dreams."

Dane was offered a scholarship to McGeorge and after his first year was among the top 25 percent of his class. At McGeorge, he has honed his skills in legal writing and analysis. And, only a year into his degree, he has soaked up a plethora of legal experiences. "I have had so many valuable experiences clerking in international law, helping with workers compensation defense, employment litigation defense and healthcare litigation defense. But, the best part about McGeorge is the students. Without a doubt, being surrounded by over one hundred like-minded and sharp individuals who are at the same point in life is incredible."

When he graduates, he hopes to extend his gratitude to all of his friends, family, peers and professors who have helped him along his law school journey. "I don't believe that anybody achieves anything alone in this world."
