Carmen Pombo graduated from ICADE Law School in 1998. During her first ten years of practice, she specialized in Intellectual Property, working for the multinational Clarke, Modet & Co. In 2008, she was appointed Technology Transfer Manager for the biomedical research center Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe, with over 300 researchers focused on drug discovery and regenerative medicine. From 2008 to 2011, she was a member of the Board of Directors of Clarke, Modet & Co.

She has been chair of the International Bar Association IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee in 2008 and 2009. She now serves as vice-chair of the IBA Poverty, Empowerment and the Rule of Law Working Group, and as European Liaison Officer for the IBA Pro Bono Committee. Since 2013 she has been a member of the council of PILnet (Public Interest Law Global Network). Carmen was appointed as a trustee of Save the Children Spain in 2012.

Regular speaker on social responsibility in the legal profession at law and business schools, at legal fora and in corporate social responsibility networks.
