Public Interest Law
A public interest law career gives an attorney an opportunity to make a tangible difference in our society. While many attorneys will become involved in pro bono representation (work without compensation done for the good of the public) at some time during their careers, public interest lawyers choose to devote all their talents and energy to a particular cause or agenda. Their work benefits individuals and causes that are not generally served by the for-profit bar. What public interest lawyers have in common is their passion for using their legal skills in the spirit of public service. While not everyone agrees with every cause or agenda promoted by public interest lawyers, few people will contend that these dedicated public servants do not provide a necessary voice for causes that would not otherwise be served or supported.
