Judicial Externship - Course 956

In the three-unit, pass/fail externship, students will work with court research attorneys in various local California Superior Courts. Subject to certain eligibility requirements, expanded judicial externships for six, eight, and twelve units are available. Students in these externships will work directly for various state and federal judges. Grading in the six-unit externship is entirely pass/fail. In the twelve-unit externships, nine units are graded pass/fail and three units are taken for a letter grade based on a paper prepared in consultation with a faculty member. Students may also elect an eight-unit externship if the judge will allow reduced time in chambers. In the eight-unit externship, six units are graded pass/fail and two units receive a letter grade based on a paper prepared in consultation with a faculty member. Information regarding available courts and eligibility requirements can be obtained from the Field Placement Director. (P/F, with a graded component in many cases)
